Analysis Capability
LUSAS Civil & Structural will comfortably
meet your everyday analysis needs. the unrivalled state-of-the-art element libraries,
isotropic and orthotropic material models, together with direct and eigen solvers, allow
all types of civil and structural engineering problem to be solved. Analysis
capability is dependent upon the
product in use. For details see the Product Specification.
Linear Static Analysis
- Stresses, strains, displacements, moments, shears and axial
forces that result from static loading are easily calculated. Loads are assumed to be
applied instantaneously in order to develop the state of internal stress and transient
effects are ignored.
Linear Buckling
Analysis
- For relatively stiff structures such as plate
girders, diaphragms and U frames the maximum load that can be supported prior to
structural instability or collapse occuring can be readily obtained.
Natural Frequency Analysis
- Natural frequencies and structural mode shapes from wind,
fluctuating loads and other induced loadings can be determined.
Linear Dynamics /
Interactive Modal Dynamics (IMD)
- The IMD facility provides a way of rigorously analysing the linear
dynamic response of a large number of transient loads such as seismic events, without the
long analysis solution times associated with traditional time domain analysis.
- Forces, moments, displacements, response time histories, and peak
response summaries, both for the whole structure and at selected nodes or elements, can be
obtained.
- Results can be graphed, and contour, vector, or peak value feature
plots can be produced.
Fatigue Analysis
- The fatigue response of a structure or structural
component can be evaluated in accordance with all major design codes.

Pre-stress and Post Tensioning
- A multi-tendon pre-stress post-tensioning facility enables the forces
equivalent to a prestress tendon to be automatically computed and applied to a model in
any orientation.
- Losses due to wobble, friction, anchorage slip, creep,
shrinkage and relaxation are all accounted for.
