LUSAS User Area

Typical message from LUSAS Modeller text output pane:

Plastic strains not available or active set has different material properties. Change active set

To obtain plastic strains it is necessary to only select those elements that have the plastic material assigned to them. To do this...

  1. Load the results (*.MYS) file on top of the model (*.MDL) file
  2. Go to the TreeView Layers tab.  Check that Geometry and Mesh layers are both visible (listed in the TreeView).  If they are not, add the layers using the menu item:
    View > Insert layer
  3. Go to the TreeView Loadcase tab.  Right-click on any "model data" loadcase (rather than a "result runs" loadcase) and choose "set active"
  4. Go to the TreeView Attribute tab.  Right-click on the appropriate plastic material model and choose "select user"
  5. Create a group of only these elements, using the menu item:
Geometry > Group > New group
  6. Go to the TreeView Groups tab.  Right-click on the group that has just been created and choose "set as only invisible"

You should then be able to plot the plastic strains as required.
