Obtain fingerprint information for the client PCs

Licences held by the licence server PC are made available to selected networked PCs on the basis of identification codes that you provide to us.  These may be either IP addresses or lockcodes.

  • All PCs on the network

  • Up to 7 IP addresses/lock codes for specific PCs

  • Up to 7 IP address ranges for parts of a network e.g. 168.*.1.*,  168.*.2.*

To obtain the IP address of a specific client PC:

On Windows NT
Start > Settings > Control panel > (double click) Network icon > Protocols tab > (select) TCP/IP Protocol > (click) Properties button

On Windows 2000
Start > Settings > Control panel > Network & Dial-up connections icon > (click) Local Area Connection > (click) Properties button > (select) Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) >(click) Properties button

On Windows XP
Start > Control panel > Network and Internet connections > Network Connection > Local Area Connections > General tab > Properties button > (select) Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) >(click) Properties button

Windows 95, 98, ME etc
Start > Settings > Control panel > (double click) Network & Dial-up connections icon > (right click) Local Area Connection > (pick) Properties

Alternatively, Start > Run > type “cmd” (or “command” for 95/98/ME) to obtain a DOS Console and type ipconfig.

The IP address is shown.  This should consist of 4  numbers e.g. 192.168.1.72
If the IP address is obtained automatically ("obtained from a DHCP server") then you will be provided with a  range of IP addresses e.g. 192.168.*.*

If lock codes are to be used to identify client PCs, these may obtained by following the 4 steps described in (C) on each client PC.
