Network licence errors checklist

Network licence errors typically arise from a network infrastructure issue, an installation issue related to the network management system or a security key string problem.  In the first instance, we would recommend that you reboot the network licence server PC and check that the network licence keys are uploaded, giving due attention to any error messages obtained during the upload process.

If problems persist:

  1. Check that the installation procedure has been followed correctly
  2. Check the LSHOST & LSFORCEHOST variables are set
  3. Confirm the fingerprint information for the licence server PC

  4. Confirm the IP address of the machine that is unable to run LUSAS.

  5. Check the client PC network settings. Using  Start > Settings > Control panel > Network, check that the Domain Name and Machine Name have been specified correctly and also that the TCP/IP protocol is running correctly and has the correct IP address.

  6. Ensure that the NetBios name and the Host Name for each client machine under DNS is the same

  7. Using Network Identification Computer Names that are " numbers-only" has been known to cause problems. Ensure that these names are a mixture of letters and numbers

If the problem has not been eliminated or the cause identified, you should consider the following points:

  1. Has the network licence ever worked on this specific machine?

  2. Is it possible to run Modeller from another machine on the network?

  3. Can Modeller be run when sitting at the machine designated the server (not using a remote terminal application)?

  4. Can the client machine ping the server?

  5. Can the server ping the client machine?

  6. Is the network licence server machine running “healthily”?

  7. Run the licence monitor program

  8. Carry out a key test

Common errors encountered when uploading a network license key and their solution are provided on the network errors page.

If you continue to encounter difficulties, please contact the LUSAS technical support team, describing your difficulties and detailing the information relating to each of the points on this page.

Any modelling and analysis capabilities described on this page are dependent upon the LUSAS software product and version in use.
