Parallel port problems

It is possible that the parallel port in your PC is simply not working. If possible, run LUSAS on another computer with the same dongle/ key combination. If this works it proves that the parallel port is the problem. The parallel port may need to be replaced. If it does not work, it is possible that the dongle is corrupt.

Some printers cause the dongle to malfunction by grounding to earth pins which are used by the dongle but not used by the printer. Problems have been encountered with a small number of HP and Roland plotters. The dongle will normally work if  the printer is powered up before the PC is turned on.  Alternatively you may need to remove the printer cable and reboot the PC before running LUSAS.

Any modelling and analysis capabilities described on this page are dependent upon the LUSAS software product and version in use.
