Uploading a licence key file to the licence server

From V14.2 onwards LUSAS license installation procedure has been enhanced. For detailed information see the "Installation Guide" on the LUSAS installation folder. Assuming you have installed LUSAS on the C drive this file is located at: C:\LUSAS14*\Installation Guide.pdf. The below instructions are targeted for versions 13.8, 14.0 and 14.1.

1.  Multiple instance of "SentinelLM" licencing software on the network

If running the “License Server Locations” program resulted in multiple instances of "SentinelLM" licencing software you will have to set environment variables on the client PCs so that the LUSAS “SentinelLM” licence key can be located.  Set the LSHOST and LSFORCEHOST variables on all the client PCs and then follow the steps given in section 3 (below).

2.  Only one instance of "SentinelLM" licencing software on the network

If you have installed the licence software and running the program “License Server Locations” gave one instance then install the key as described in 3 below.

3.  Uploading a licence key file to the licence server

When you receive the licence keys, they will be contained in a file normally named “lockcode.txt” either as an email attachment or on floppy disk.  To install the licence keys:

  1. Copy the file you have been sent onto a PC where LUSAS is installed and which is connected to the network running the licence server.  Place the copied file in the area where LUSAS was installed, typically the C:\drive e.g. the name & path should be of the form:

C:\LUSAS135\lockcode.txt

(C:\drive is used in these instructions for clarity but should be replaced with the drive and path where you have installed the LUSAS software) This file should have read / write access enabled.  This can be done by selecting the file, right click > Properties and then uncheck, if necessary, the “Read-Only” option.

  1. Run the program "C:\Lusas135\Programs\license\lslic.vbe" and follow the instructions.  Note you can "drag and drop" the "lockcode.txt" file onto the "\lslic.vbe" in order to process this automatically.  If you have problems running this program check that you have Windows Script Host Version 5.1 or higher.  This can be verified by locating the program “C:\WINNT\system32\wscript.exe” for Windows NT, 2000, XP or “C:\Windows\ wscript.exe” for Windows 9x, right click and select “Properties…”. Select the “Version” tab and the “File Version:” should be 5.1.x.xxxx or higher.  If it is an earlier version upgrade using the program “<CD ROM>:\Scripting\VBscript\scr55en.exe”.

Alternatively,

  1. Launch a DOS window:  Start > Programs > MS-DOS command prompt

  2. At the DOS prompts, enter the following commands:
    C:\WINDOWS> cd c:\lusas134\programs\licence
    C:\LUSAS134\PROGRAMS\LICENCE> lslic -F c:\lusas134\lockcode.txt
    C:\LUSAS134\PROGRAMS\LICENCE> exit

Please note that "-F" must be uppercase in the command above, otherwise the licence will only be installed as temporary and will be lost if the licence server is rebooted.

Additional keys including product options

When a new license key is installed on the license server it will always overwrite any existing license key for a similar product.

If you have single user product options, you must add the 24-digit license key provided by the license key department using the Configuration Utility:

Start > Programs > Lusas135 for Windows > Tools > Configuration Utility > Key Information (tab) > (click) [add or edit button]

Key strings can also be edited or re-ordered using this utility.

Some users encounter problems while attempting to upload keys, please refer to Network installation errors.

Any modelling and analysis capabilities described on this page are dependent upon the LUSAS software product and version in use.
