LUSAS
for Structural and Bridge Applications (Introduction) Training
Course
17 and 18 March 2010 |
|
This
two-day course covered getting started with a brief overview of LUSAS and then
proceeded to cover in detail the modelling and analysis options
available for creating beam models, modelling flat slabs, composite
construction, 3D shell modelling, before moving on to buckling
analysis, soli structure interaction and staged construction
modelling.
Day
1: Structural and bridge
application modelling Topics
covered:
- Getting
more out of beam models: FE concepts, Model creation,
analysis and results from a 2D franme model
- Flat slabs and 3D modelling:
Line elements & plate elements, Modelling a flat slab, Flat slab example,
Creating 3D geometry, 3D shell elements, 3D girder example.
- 3D modelling considerations:
Beam & slab structures, Example (mixed elements), 3D modelling,
Eigenvalue buckling, Example (plate girder buckling)
Day 2: Advanced
structural and bridge application modelling
Topics covered:
- Introduction to modelling 3D
shell structures: Creating 3D geometry, 3D elements, The modelling process,
Buckling analyses
- Soil structure interaction:
Introduction, Modulus of subgrade reaction (Winkler springs), Example: footing on springs,
Continuum analyses, Example: footing using 2D HILE continuum, More advanced functions & examples
- Staged construction modelling:
Requirements and Typical examples, Facilities available, Birth & death,
Introduction or removal of supports, Viscous (creep) time-dependent analysis,
Example: staged construction with creep, Example: Retaining wall (excavation & NL soil)
