How are the results from combinations calculated?

When calculating the effects of a load combination in MODELLER, the results for each constituent load case are evaluated at a Gauss point level and then also combined at the Gauss point level to ensure maximum accuracy. The choice of smoothed or unsmoothed contour results may then be performed in the usual manner.

However, when comparing the results of a combination with the summation of its individual loads, discrepancies may be found if Gauss point results are not chosen for the individual loading output. This is as a result of the averaging process showing values that are not those used in the original combination process.
