Typical error message found in the LUSAS Solver text output file (*.OUT):

***DATABASE ERROR*** ERROR DURING I/O , IOSTAT= 30

***DATABASE ERROR*** ERROR DURING I/O , IOSTAT= 37

Causes & links to solutions

This means that an Open Failure occurred whilst attempting to open a file (typically the Modeller results file). This message is issued when the error condition is not one of the more common conditions for which specific error messages are provided. It is typically a result of one or more of the following:

  1. File being solved over a network connection.  Save the file in a suitable location
  2. File name is not valid
  3. Full file/ path name too long. There is a limit to the number of characters permitted. The remedy is to reduce the number of subdirectories as well as the length of the file name itself.
  4. Insufficient privileges to write files to the disk.  Save the file in a folder which is available to all users as read/ write access (i.e. do not use personal profile areas or administrator-only folders).  Try running the analysis logged in as "administrator"
  5. The file may be locked by another application. This can occur with some backup programs and has also been known to occur with anti-virus checkers.  Close other applications
  6. The results file from a previous analysis is still open in Modeller when Solver attempts to write a new results file.  Close the results file in Modeller before running the analysis.
  7. For a multi-step analysis such as nonlinear or dynamic, the results file has been closed by Modeller, but Solver does not recognise that the file has been released. This causes a file violation error when solver tries to write a new set of results. This would be the result of a corruption of the file during the analysis because of network problems. If this is the case it will be remedied by running the analysis again.
