Most common causes & links to solutions 

Thick shells include out-of-plane shear deformation whereas thin shell elements do not. It is advised that one or the other is used rather than a combination of these two different types of formulation. If the elements are to be relatively thin and shear deformation therefore has a negligible effect, then it would generally be preferable to use Thin Shell elements.  Linear interpolation order elements should also not be mixed with quadratic order interpolation elements.  For more information regarding the different elements available in LUSAS, please see:
